15.03.2024

A month and a half after Fiorino Clerici's triumph, Cédric Gugler brought further Swiss cheer to the Pro Golf Tour by taking the title at the Allegria Open 2024. The 24-year-old secured victory with a score of -12 and a one-stroke lead over Tadeas Tetak from Slovakia.

In the Egyptian capital Cairo, Gugler laid the foundations for his success on the very first day with an impressive round of 65 (-7). Even a small mishap on the penultimate hole, which threatened his five-shot lead, could not stop him from his first professional victory. "It's an incredible feeling to achieve this success after all the hard work I've put in over the years. We train for moments like this," explained the player of Golf & Country Club Zurich. "I managed to concentrate on every single shot throughout the week and stay in the zone."

In addition to Gugler, six other Swiss players made the cut at the Allegria Open, including the amateur Nicola Gehardsen, who finished in 7th place with a score of -8, and Alessandro Noseda, who finished in 14th place with a score of -5. Another highlight of the Pro Golf Tour, the NewGiza Pyramids Challenge, is scheduled to take place in Egypt from 17 to 19 March.
