Joint Appointment by Swiss PGA and ASG

Stuart Morgan

Swiss PGA and ASG are pleased to announce the joint appointment of Stuart Morgan in the newly created position of Performance Manager. For the first time ASG and the Swiss PGA jointly engage a specialist who supports the technical coaches. The main objective is to boost the progress and the continuous improvement of Swiss golf top performers.

56 PGA Pros had applied for the job. The choice finally fell on the experienced elite coach and former tour player Stuart Morgan. The 40-year-old Englishman will be responsible for supporting the progression, education and development of young playing professionals. He will also offer specific programs to the best amateurs in their transition to a possible professional playing career with the aim to help them getting ready for the challenges they will face.

Stuart is a PGA Advanced Member. He has a solid experience in teaching elite players and has coached professionals on the European and the Asian tours. He has also developed a strong knowledge in junior talent development. He is used to working with state-of-the-art video and teaching systems. He turned pro in 2000 and following various assignments in golf clubs his most recent position is Director of Coaching at the International Junior Golf Academy.

The Englishman currently lives in Austria, but now begins his work. "Morgan will, among other things, accompany the important transition from the amateur to the professional," explained ASG Sports Director Paolo Quirici. The new Performance Manager will support the players and their coaches. "The young professionals will also be able to benefit from his experiences and his contacts in the golfing world", Quirici expects.

"Morgan is only 40 and is extremely well known in the scene, which will benefit the ASG and the Swiss PGA. It is therefore very important that the two associations are committed, "says the sports director.

"Morgan must first get to know our players," he adds. The first contact already was made at the end of June. Quirici and Morgan visited the two Swiss Albane Valenzuela and Morgane Métraux in preparation for this year's Vagliano Trophy.

Stuart has worked with Elite players since 2001.

"I always felt there were gaps and understanding of elite performers and what they do. With my inquisitive mind I am always looking for better ways, this took me on a journey where I have been privileged to consult/learn from some of the best minds in sport. The likes of Dr K Anders Ericsson, Dr Robert Bjork, Dr Paul Schempp, Dr Dave Alred, Dr Dave Collins and coaches like Ian Peek and Jussi Pitkanene who have all carried out extensive research on what it takes to become an elite player and how to stay an elite player."

Most recently, Stuart published a book called ‘Gifted Junior’ and was Director of Coaching for Elite Juniors in America, where he directed over 60 golfers and 10 coaching staff.

"I am a big believer in the knowledge must transfer to application. I have presented to my fellow PGA Professionals on the subject of elite performance at all levels in the UK, Ireland and the United States. I have also been interviewed on the Game Like Training, Golf Science Lab, and The Talent Equation podcasts as an expert in my field."

Both, Jean-Marc Mommer and Keith Marriott wish Stuart much success in his new activities with our current and future top amateur and professional golfers.
