13.03.2020

With an impressive golf demonstration, Swiss PGA's Jeremy Freiburghaus won the Open Bahia Golf Beach 2020. After a total of 54 holes on the courses of Bahia Golf Beach in Bouznika and Royal Golf Anfa Mohammedia in the coastal town in Morocco, the 23-year-old from Bonaduz triumphed with a total of 16 under par (65, 67, 67). The Tour rookie was nine shots ahead of his competitors in an unchallenged start-finish victory.

His opponents had nothing to gain: from day one Swiss PGA Pro Jeremy Freiburghaus made it clear in Morocco that he wanted to win his first title on the Pro Golf Tour. He started the tournament with a flawless 65 round on the par 71 course Royal Golf Anfa Mohammedia, where he was already two shots ahead of his opponents, and he extended this lead in the second round. He finished with a 67 on the par-72 course of Bahia Golf Beach leading the competition by 11 under par and five shots ahead.

Freiburghaus had played nine birdies and one eagle up to that point, had made no mistakes over 36 holes and was heading for his first tournament success in his first professional season.

And on the final day, the later champion did not give himself up, opened his third round with a birdie and extended his lead to nine strokes by the end of another strong 67 round.

"I'm really happy that I've now won my first professional title," said the champion. "I played very solid on all three days, including an eagle on a par 4 in the second round, so the result was really deep. Especially my putting was very good and made the many birdies possible. The victory gives me a lot of self-confidence."

Second best Swiss PGA Pro is Luca Galliano in the tied eighth place. The man from Ticino stayed under par three times. Marco Iten and Benjamin Rusch were unable to improve towards the end and placed 27th and 28th.
