At the beginning of December, representatives of the Confederation of Professional Golf ("CPG") met for their annual congress in a snow-free and therefore golf-friendly environment. At the same time, the International Team Championship was played at the same venue (see Players Corner). This year's CPG congress was hosted by the Penina Golf Resort in southern Portugal. Representatives from all 32 member nations participated in the annual meeting. They took the opportunity to network, exchange experiences and share their common goal - to further develop and grow golf.

The Swiss PGA was represented by its President Keith Marriott: «It was an impressive experience for me - and one of the most creative and positive environments that I have ever seen. The wealth of knowledge and professionalism of today's PGA professionals gives them a leading role in the development of the game.» In this environment, it was an honor for him to present the new concept of the Swiss PGA, said Marriott. This new concept is entitled "The Next 75 Years". The concept received a lot of approval and interest from colleagues from the other 31 member countries. A good experience for the Swiss PGA President that smaller national PGAs are also heard at the CPG and that their expertise is valued by colleagues.

International networking within the golf scene is of great importance for Marriott: "PGA professionals travel on behalf of leading institutions - I mention the R&A as an example - around the world in order to sensitize people to sporting activities. Because sport improves life in many areas. »

The CPG is the international representation of all professional golfers, Marriot explains: «The association has a huge range - from the individual golf instructor in Spain, who introduces 4000 children to this sport, to the PGA of Canada, which is a great concept for presented the leading role in golf in the second largest country in the world.» It fits well, because everyone has the same goal: "It is about the role of professional golfers and their skills in creating a healthy, sustainable, green environment - a task who recognize all national PGAs integrated in the CPG.» Marriott is convinced that the future role of PGA professionals will be a very dynamic and positive one.
