VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open
13.09.2020

The Ladies European Tour visits Holzhäusern. A tournament for professional women golfers of comparable importance has not been held in Switzerland since 2012. It is no coincidence that the Golfpark at Holzhäusern became the venue for the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open. After the expansion and major investments of the past few years, Golfpark now offers sports fans a golf event at the highest level.

Amy Boulden produced a sensational round of a lifetime, firing a stunning bogey-free 64 (-8) to finish the week at 17-under-par and claim a three-shot victory from Australia’s Stephanie Kyriacou at the 2020 VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open.

Switzerland was at the start with a total of 8 Swiss PGA Proettes: Clara Pietri, Rachel Rossel, Christina Gloor, Kim Métraux, Morgane Métraux, Anaïs Maggetti, Caroline Rominger and Melanie Mätzler. Ultimately, the two Lausanne sisters Kim and Morgane Métraux competed for the prize money of EUR 200,000.

Kim Métraux
from Lausanne came fourth in the final round. With two bogeys on the first two holes, the title race seemed to be over for her. However, with a sand eagle on the third hole she came quickly back into contention. "The audience gave me enormous support, suddenly the putter was also running hot and so I got a nice series of five birdies in a row," she says right after the round. She didn't look too much at her competitors, says Métraux in response to a question. "I saw Amy Boulden's result on the last few laps and that's when things practically worked out for me," adds Métraux.

Morgane Métraux, the second Swiss woman in the final field, follows in 11th place. Kim's younger sister had started the tournament with a par round, after which she managed two rounds of 69 shots each. "I can be quite satisfied with that, especially on the backnine I was able to fight my way back in the final with four birdies", says the second Swiss player who survived the cut.
